That’s because common sense is so rare these days. It’s just too hard to think ahead and come to logical Conclusions. That takes time, concentration and commitment. It’s just easier to live for today only and repeat the mantra “tomorrow never comes”. That’s how generation after generation can sit on their front porch or live in their parent’s basement waiting, waiting for change that is never going to come.
I was not not being so pessimistic.
I did not take resumes from every available woman before deciding to marry my wife. Looking back 36 years later, there was not much logic or clear thinking involved. It was the right decision, but not a logical one, or even one that made common sense, given our cultural, economic and family backgrounds. You would have been hard pressed to find two less compatible people.
How many people buy a car because of the color? There are very few, if any less logical reasons to do something. However, does that mean the white Camry was a less good choice than the red Impala? Maybe, maybe not.
My favorite color is orange. That’s because the character Saul in the movie Solent Green’s favorite color was orange. It was not a logical decision.
Where it becomes problematic is when apply such trivial reasoning to important stuff. That is where we are stupid, lazy and insane.
