“I believe you know that there are not only Dems that are counting on a Dem victory, but unfortunately several FReepers (see this thread for an example). To them, if McAwful wins, it just drives home the point that the election was stolen / rigged. If Youngkin wins AT ALL, it blows the “elections are rigged now and forever” theory out of the water.”
I fully expect claims of the following:
1) The Dems let Youngkin win;
2) Too many people were watching, so vote fraud could not be practiced on a wider scale;
3) Virginia Repubs are just really Dems, so what’s the difference;
4) Blah, blah, blah
But for the next 1-2 days, the whiners should not be as vocal. But when one is drinking bowls of claim chowder, it’s difficult to speak.
Youngkin won a close election in a state that is wholly run at the state level by Democrats, is probably home to more political operatives per capita than any other state, and went by double-digits for Biden. And he beat a former governor (with all the patronage that goes with it), a former DNC chair, and a lifelong Clinton bagman. Yes, I think if any election was likely to be rigged, it would have been this one.
