“The charges against Smollett were eventually dropped but the situation itself illuminated another deep issue— the problematic undertaking within the Chicago Police Department.”
If my feeble memory serves me right the charges were dropped by the bleeding heart DA until Smollett (probably energized by support from this article’s author) let his ass overload his mouth about the racist Chicago PD. And the charges were reinstated.
I’m not sure about all Southern dialects. Born in the Deep South, live in the not-deep South, raised in the North. My understanding, though:
Y’all is a limited plural. If you say, “y’all come on over” to Mr. Smith, Mr. Smith will understand his wife and maybe his kid is invited.
If you say, “All y’all come on down,” it’s a meeting of the clans. “Everybody.”
How about y’uns? the most regional contraction ever!
” just because she did it, doesnt mean she is guilty “
Yeah, I had to check to see if it was the Bee
Wow, what a load of crap. It hurt my head reading it.
But he paid two people to do it to him and tried to blame innocents, why is acknowledging that fact unforgivable, MSN?
Kenny Williams Jr.: Idiot.
Or is it “comic”, because I laughed so hard reading that piece of crapola.
“While it is unclear what exactly happened and whether he is (or isn’t) telling the truth, one must acknowledge the painstaking reality of it all.”...
Its only unclear if you’re being intellectually disingenuous.
The reality if Jussie tried a PR stunt to make himself a martyr and it failed miserably. Now hes on the hook for it.
WTH? Unclear? Is he telling the truth?
Scanning the evidence that has come forth in this sordid hoax, an apologist such as this is totally under water in the sewer
of black victim hood.
Is this article from the BabylonBee.com as well?....
This is just out and out lying. The sad part is that there are millions out there who will seize on it to support their world view.
“Y’all might be the most overused contraction in American history.”
I am not sure what to make of the rise of “y’all”. Blacks use it because it is part of Black English. I think northern Whites use it as a code word to signal their status as “allies”. That they do not grasp is that southern Whites use it, too. But I am surprised it is not denounced as cultural appropriation.
“Y’all is a limited plural.”
I have been told that you=1, y’all=2-4/5, and all y’all > 4/5.
“Justice for Juicy! Justice for Juicy!”
My son who was born and raised in the southland somehow grew up despising both Negros and southern accents. At 17 he accompanied me in the carny season on my round of the Midwest state fairs. Returning through Mississippi at 3AM we stopped at a Waffle House where we were the only customers. The staff was one cook and one pretty black waitress. Bo and I sat in the booth tired. She came over and, looking straight at Bo and said in the very sweetest Mississippi accent, “Are yall ready for breakfast, sugar?” Bo got a silly look on his face and I ordered for both of us. After she left to put in the order, he said with a half smile, “Daddy, We’re home.” He has never expressed any racial antipathy or criticised the Southern accent again. He has even begun to say “yall” and stretch his vowels.
An excellent point, one that I hadn't thought of.
If ‘Black’ is to be capitalized, why not ‘Queer’?
