Watching OAN reporting on how a school in Brevard County has been forcibly tying a mask on to the face of a 7 year old non verbal Downes Syndrome girl for weeks. The parents were uninformed of this and discovered it when the little girl arrived home and the school neglected to remove the ties upon school dismissal. The mask was full of spittle, saliva, secretions, and clearly it was a hindrance to the poor child’s respiratory functions, and causing her excessive O2 retention.
I knew many Downes Syndrome kids during my youth, pre teens. I have dealt with many others since. They are typically among the most gentle and loving persons of my experience. They seem to always live to please others. I am witness to this.
This Report distressed me greatly.
I cannot find it on the OAN web page yet, but I have a hunch that this story may bust out soon.

Jeffery Steele’s daughter, Sofia Steele, is nonverbal and has an enlarged tongue. On Oct. 7, Sofia stepped off of the school bus with a mask, wet from her saliva, tied to her head with a thin, nylon string, Steele told Fox News Digital, but she did not leave for school with a mask on that day or any day prior.
