"We don't know how those live rounds got there," she told CNN. "And I think that that will probably end up being kind of the linchpin for whether a decision is made about charges."

Let's turn everything on its head. The armorer is implying that lack of knowledge excuses poor performance.

The reality is that the armorer had a DUTY to be knowledgeable about what was loaded into the weapon, regardless of whether or not there were live rounds on the set. The media, as always, takes the side of the liberals, and fails to ask the right question when the situation just begs for it.

The mere EXISTENCE of live rounds in the universe creates the duty to check the weapon EVERY SINGLE TIME. If I were writing their protocol I would spell out that it doesn't matter what you believe, it doesn't matter what you think, it doesn't matter what you KNEW. The only thing that matters is that you check the gun for safety every time the protocol dictates that it should be checked.

The definition says it all;

Basically top to bottom but closely related in knowledge, manufacturer to gunsmith to armorer. She really should have studied every firearm to the point of knowing them inside and out that she was going to deal with. Other part of the job is securing them at all times, especially around a bunch of un-knowledgeable people.

IMHO, every actor should be taught by the armorer about every individual weapon they'll use and also basic firearm safety.
