And I have a good lawyer....
But Thanks!!!
Covid was my excuse to start smoking cigars. I never knew what I was missing. So relaxing to enjoy a cigar every now and then. Not every day. Yet
I don't smoke, so haven't kept track. Was at WalMart today and saw packs at $8.23 each and nearly wet myself. Frigging unreal.
I roll my own. You can buy a good rolling machine for about $70, plus or minus, which is less than the cost of a carton in most states, so you'll recoup the cost of the investment pretty quickly.
I keep track of what it costs me pretty closely, and by rolling my own, I pay around $1.20 per pack (20 cigarettes).
Don't be discouraged. You'll get there. Remember willpower. Once you reach your goal of once a day, try bourbon. They complement each other.
Check out a high school orchestra:
Close to $10 here.
I roll my own for less than that a *carton*.
The French used tobacco and nicotine to cure the Coof when this crap started,
/last laughs
;D
I’m still chuckling over that- they had covid unit nurses wearing nicotine patches.
I run some low end rentals. Some of my former renters used their EBT cards to buy high price food items, like the choicest meats and then resell them at pennies on the dollar to buy cigarettes, beer, and drugs. One of them told me, “Everybody does it.” My guess is that there has been a huge increase in EBT or similar welfare. (There’s a way to monetize virtually all of it.) AS a result, there will be a corresponding increase in cigarette, beer and drug sales.
Most likely, these sales are not going to new smokers, but represent an increase in use by current smokers. Even my friends who smoke and have kids report their kids not only don’t smoke, but harass them about their smoking. The worst thing imaginable to happen to any product is for kids to find it unfashionable.
Well I dod read somewhere that smokers are less likely to get covid so maybe something there.
I will say that I smoke, and had covid twice, both times I survived. First bout in December was a rough one. The last round was nothing but a head cold and minor congestion.
Rush always said, “Cigarette smokers deserve a medal for all of the taxes collected”. I knows that cancer got him and he did smoke cigars after quitting cigarettes.
I remember my mother buying unfiltered Chesterfields at the PX for $1.85 per carton — 10 packs, 200 coffin nails @ less than a penny apiece.
I smoked cigarettes for about 40 years and E-cigarettes made it very easy to quit all nicotine/tobacco products.
I hear ya. In my area, I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen an American teen smoking tobacco. Vaping, yes. Marijuana, yes. So you’re right. The domestic tobacco industry will be in a death spiral in the next few decades.
It’s well known that in all the psych wards the patients almost all are smokers. Poor coping mechanism for their anxiety.
Whatever works.
;)
In 1980 a carton of Virginia Slims was 7 bucks
In South Carolina they were like $4 so my dad would bring me back a couple when he went on vacation.
In the late 60s when I worked at an auto plant in Ohio, there were always guys selling low tax Kentucky cigs out of the trunk of their cars.
