“CHEMICALS PUSHED FOR HOME USE CLEANING [CANCER][BABY ON FLOOR-HANDS IN MOUTH - THE START].”

This is something of a pet peeve for me. Have you or anybody noticed that the big brand liquid dishwashing detergents smell DISGUSTING these days. I became disenchanted with Dawn because I smelled a very particular corrosive that I could identify because I used to work with it quite extensively — Formalin® was the brand name for formaldehyde. I looked it up and SURE ENOUGH! Dawn put Formalin in the dish soap. It’s carcinogenic. Why in the HE\\ would you put something like that in dish soap.

So this time I bought Palmolive - soft on hands, right? You’re soaking in it, right? IT smells DISGUSTING too. No Formalin that I can detect but it smells godawful, who knows what IS in there. WHy? Why would they do this?

Try Dr. Bronners soaps. I use Sal Suds. More expensive, but has spruce tree fragrance.

Because I am extremely allergic to artificial fragrances, I am more or less an expert on this miserable topic. Almost all fragranced products other than ones that say “pure essential oils” - and even then some lie - use articical fragrances. Most are petroleum by-products, about 15% made from coal tar.

Also, almost all are manufactured with formaldehyde even when it is not on the label; its purpose is to make the smell last longer. That is why it is very hard to wash out of clothes, hair etc. Dryer sheets also. Any products with fragrances.

Many people have trouble with these but are often accused of being “overly sensitive” but oddly enough even people who don’t think they are being adversely affected stop using fragranced stuff, they often notice skin problems, headaches, breathing issues etc go away.

Biokleen has a good line of cleaning products that are fragrance free.
