Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm on a New Mexico film set Thursday, Oct. 21, killing the director of photography and wounding the director, according to local law enforcement officials.
The incident occurred on the set of the Western film Rust, though it is unclear whether the actors were rehearsing or filming a scene. The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation, and no charges have been filed against the 63-year-old actor, according to local media reports.

“It’s not loaded…”
BANG
“Sorry”
Huge liability all over the place.
Maybe he’ll shoot Canteen Boy.
Including insurance.
“You don’t rehearse with live weapons.”
Remember who we’re talking about here.
How much ya wanna bet that “SNL” makes nasty, mean spirited fun of him for this, as they did of Republicans galore?
Yeah, I know: Ain’t Gonna Happen.
He was told where to put the gun by the script.
Sadly the cinematographer got in the way.
The man was in shock and sobbing after it happened and probably had no real knowledge of guns.
I can’t believe people here are so hard on him. No, most people here don’t like his politics, but he is a human being who will have to live with this the rest of his life.
The pistol that I saw pictured looked like an 1851 Navy Colt. If it was a cartridge conversion, it may have been chambered in .38 Special.
“their testosterone makes them an expert.”
You got that right. In researching ARs to purchase a few years ago, I viewed many YouTube videos on the subject....talk about testosterone overload....SHEESH.
“I can’t believe people here are so hard on him.”
Kinda brought a lot of it on himself don’t you think?
Can’t wait to see him spoof himself on the next SNL episode.
Before you defend Alex Baldwin with a FURTHER word. You need to watch the John Schneider interview on YouTube regarding this incident.
1. Rules and procedures With firearms are in place on all movie sets to keep people safe.
2. Yes Alex Baldwin Is human and will live with what he has done for the rest of his life.
I care far more about item 1, than item 2.
“Why was he pointing the gun at the cinematographer?”
Well how many times does the ‘scene’ have the round coming right at it, the viewpoint aka camera? You gotta point the gun at the camera and she was operating it. Duh.
“I can’t believe people here are so hard on him. ... but he is a human being....
The time has long-since passed when people like him can be considered human beings. He wants US dead. He wants YOU dead. The spiritual entity controlling him is not the good kind.
“You need to watch the John Schneider interview on YouTube regarding this incident.”
Another excellent interview with John Schneider was on “Real America’s Voice” last night in an interview with Miranda Khan at the “Truth About Cancer” event in Nashville. I wanted to post it, but am not finding it anywhere.
He discussed cancer (wife had stage 4 and reversed it through diet, etc.), pharma (not much good to say about it), Covid vaccines (won’t get one), and other things. He mentioned his son who was born in 1990 and has Asperger’s, and I THINK he related it to some of the vaccine cocktails that kids were getting then. I want to verify that by re-watching, which I’ll do if I can find the video.
When we lived in SoCal, we ran into him at times. Super nice person. One year he and his wife were guests of honor at the Women’s Resource Center annual charity ball to support pro-life causes. Seems smart, with a good head on his shoulders.
“Wanna bet Baldwin is going to spin this experience into a claim that he’s now a super expert?”
He might think he is. But I’ve used weapons all over the world and the first rule when handed a weapon is to clear it. Never let someone else load your weapon. If he had done this, he would have known what was going into the prop gun and treated the weapon with the respect the limitations dictated.

Yes.
Unfortunately, Alec Baldwin has been an angry, arrogant, outspoken critic of 2A gun rights and the NRA. Instead of learning about responsible gun ownership, Baldwin plays outlaws and other gun-toting characters in the movies. What goes around, comes around.
If they were practicing the scene presumably Baldwin would have been aiming the prop gun at the actors in the scene. How did two no-actor crew members get shot while rehearing the scene?
The script could have called for the gun to be pointed toward the camera to capture that point of view. It’s pretty common.
Thanks for the insight. Don’t know much about him, but the interview I referenced was highly intelligent. If safety protocols had been in placed and adhered to, non of this would have had a CHANCE to occurr.
In short Alec Baldwin does not get a free pass here. Yes its tragic. Yes he’s human and we make mistakes. Yes he has to now live with this for the remainder of his life. The man would go a long way toward gaining empathy from me by doing the right thing. Tweets about his heart being broken are not a start. And he knows it.
