A Proposal for Republicans/Conservatives Residing in Democrat States and Districts.

This dilemma leaves many feeling like they have no way of having an impact on Congressional, State and Local Elections.

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: democrats; elections
I live in New Jersey. Until recent re-districting took effect, my legislative district was solidly Republican. Now, to my chagrin, Andy Kim-D is my Congressman. So far, my state and local legislators are still in the 'R' column. The last time New Jersey had a sitting Republican US Senator who served a full term was in 1979. (A couple of unknowns got a few month's of appointment to the post to fill out the last few months of Democrat Senators who couldn't due to resignation or death). While we've had some (cough-cough) Republican Governors, Democrats have increasingly dominated that office as well and look to have a lock on it for the foreseeable future.

Besides the obvious resort to changing this situation, what can be done now?

In light of a big push coming up to ram through the $5,000,000,000,000 of socialist pork that is in the pipeline, I sent the following message to Mr. Kim a few moments ago:

Will you be this year's "Profile in Courage"? Can you stand up to your party and vote against the ruinous budget proposals that are under consideration, which will add $5,000,000,000,000 to the debt, enslaving future generations to yet higher taxes? I am a registered Republican. I did not vote for you and, to be perfectly candid, am not likely to vote for you. But there are many like me who will not only vote for your more fiscally responsible opponent, but will also fight harder than ever before to defeat you and other Democrat candidates if this wanton act of intergenerational theft goes through.

I think a large volume of messages and phone calls like this might just strike a nerve, maybe even shift a vote here or there (I know, pie in the sky stuff). Can anyone suggest alternatives? Feel free to copy and past my text.

A Republican in a Democrat district needs to follow the Democrat tactic of contributing to Republican politicians running close races in other districts.

Why do you think so much money from New York City ends up in races in other states? It's because Democrats don't need to donate to politicians in New York City (unless they're in a "pay-to-play" industry). They don't worry about the Republicans in Staten Island.

New York is good example. Democrats who voted for Mayor Kaiser Deblasio's re-election campaign were surprised to find out their donation was rerouted to upstate races.

Are you delusional? They Don’t Care. With ~700,000 voters per district, it will make no difference to them.

My suggestion?

Move

Sell the house. Sell your shiite, and MOVE to a place that wants you and respects your values.

National Divorce is coming.
No Civil War - just a civil separation

Choose Freedom, and Peace.

The real world is amazingly, stunningly complex, refusing to bow down to any stereotypes or theories.

We live deep in enemy territory, but our _quality_ of life is far superior to the vast majority who post here.

I will tell you a few (but not all!) of our “secrets”.

We live in a very small town. There are no apartment buildings. But, here is the key part—there will _never_ be any apartment buildings. Why? Because there is no public water or water treatment and _never_ will be because it would cost trillions of dollars to build—and our state is totally broke. In addition our state only spends money to give its politically connected friends in the _urban_ areas.

We have relatively low property taxes compared to most of the Northeast. (Now we are getting to secrets—but what is important is that it can be done by folks who do their homework...). They will stay low—why?—because our town is almost all conservative Republicans—and they are not going anywhere. Anyone who tries to raise taxes gets booed off the stage in the public meetings.

We live in a very rural area with lots of privacy. We had to look several years to find the place, but many years ago we did our homework and got it done. Our town is opposed to all development—and has cynically used the environmental banner to make it impossible to build here.

So—everything is not quite as it seems.

I can and do send what I can, but I can’t give much and certainly not enough to have an impact on any race in a deeply blue area. That’s no excuse not to try, but, unless there was a massive groundswell of such behavior, I’m suggesting more in terms of peaceful but forceful direct action that might sway a borderline (purple) Democrat to consider his already slim chances.

Volunteer to become involved in your local voting process. Bothering Congress critters is only efficacious when voting is fair or close to it. If the Democrats can get away with cheating, then your complaints will be ignored. I mean, your idea is valid, but this is a time of war. (Unintentional verses again. Sorry.)

How about printing up millions of phony ballots getting ready for the 2022 and 2024 elections like the Democrats are probably doing getting ready for Chuck Tumor to get S1 passed at just the right time.\.

Yeah, I advocate changing locations these days. I used to be “stay and fight” but no longer. I know a lot of my fellow Coloradans DO think the Democrats are groovy and it’s useless to argue with them or try to persuade the Dem congress critters to avoid corruption. I want out of here! ASAP!
