Later going on a ride with a 40-something-year-old friend he climbs a hill and his heart rate tops 160 after 5 minutes of climbing. The friend says, “You’re going to a hospital, you look like you’re dying.”
For the 2-hour ride to the hospital, his heart rate never drops below 135.
The ER doc says “You’re having a panic attack, I’m referring you to psychiatric”...
He later gets a referral to a *real* doctor, a cardiologist at another hospital, who confirms pericarditis.
