FOOD SLIDE:

I cook up a meal or two in the oven or crock pot - sometimes on the stove top. Stick it in the frig with a label, and we reheat as the mood/hunger strikes.

My fast food is on the pantry shelf. I can the meats that are one sale, and they are ready to eat in a jiffy. They could be called dump entrees-dump all the stuff in the crock pot, and forget it till later, or heat it quickly on the stove top, or stick it in the oven for and in between time.

If push came to shove, it could be eaten straight from the jar - like tuna.

I do much the same. I can meats for later use, turning it into chicken nachos or enchilada casserole in a jiffy. I caramelize onions and can those to add to lots of things, as well as the usual tomatoes, from our garden. I also can things like leftover soups and chili, my husband loves his stash of jars. New this year, I dry canned potatoes that I cut in dice and also as fries. They cook up so crispy and nice, much faster than raw potatoes.
