Always loved how Mark Knopfler carved out his own niche with a different playing style - has to be pretty hard to get your "own" sound out of a guitar.

As good as Stevie Ray Vaugn was, he copied Jimi's sound, so even Stevie Ray didn't have his own style.

Pete Townshend, Steve Stills, Alvin Lee, Johnny Winter - they all had their own style, could easily pick them out of a "blind taste test".

SRV borrowed more from Albert King than Hendrix by far.

I think SRV copied Terry Kath more than Jimi, both in playing and singing.
