It blocks lots of ads by default, some sites don’t like that. Also, if you default to https: or are using TOR features, that will slow things down.
Straight Chromium should be efficient.

Not slow but refuses to let me access common sites such as wikipedia and others saying it is “unsafe “ The peoblem only came up a few weeks ago. Dictionary.com is also a site saying it is unsafe. Something is not right.

Vivaldi is based on Opera and Chrome. I have been using it for about a year.

There are versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

If it happens on a particular website, you might have to turn off ad-blocking for that site as follows:
- Just to the right of the address bar is a lion face icon. Click that icon to get a pop-up window. Click the toggle switch in the top right of the pop-up window to turn ad-blocking on/off.
It also could be an extension (add-on program) causing the issue.

Allow local scripts to run, and your websites should all run much better.

Is it possible another task is running on your computer which is slowing down Brave? If you restart the computer does the issue persist?

Clear the cache, check for updates. I’ve used it most of the time on all the Windulls machines I have or have to use.

I’m running Brave on three different platforms and I haven’t experienced much of what you describe.
Have you got less than 4GB of RAM?
My “weak” laptop used to have 2GB; upgrading to 4GB was dramatically better.
I keep lots of tabs open (30+), and when I come back out of sleep mode on my Win7 laptop, there’s a lag as content on many of those tabs is refreshed, but I’ve burdened the application so it’s to be expected. If I mill around on my credit union website long enough that it logs me out, clicking the login button on that “You’ve been signed out” page frequently gets me a swirling circle, but it’s not the browser doing it, it’s the credit union website doing it.
It acts the same on my HP 8710w laptop running Ubuntu, and it acts the same on my Samsung S6, which is an Android unit.
Try this:
If a page balks, try it again “Shields down,” if it still balks, copy/paste the URL into a different browser, and see how it acts. Chrome would be most identical to Brave.
Do that a dozen times or more and gather some experiential data. Note whether it’s specific domains, pages you frequent... get some specifics. Maybe some common threads will emerge that give you more to go on.

I’m using Brave to read this. Works great. As for the Unsafe thingy, I have seen that before and it’s usually due to a SSL conflict. I click on “Proceed Anyway” and go where I want.

You need to re-install Windows, and then reconfigure your deflector phalanx.
