Ferguson was brilliant.
Jay is a democrat. Always has been.
But, to Leno’s credit, he played it straight. That was his undoing.
I like to watch the Dean Martin celebrity roasts on YouTube. I always feel a little sad and depressed though when I watch them because it always occurs to me that you could never get away with that kind of humor nowadays.
I can try. :-) This old gal isn’t that great at memory, but Mark talks about how these shows have ceased to be about comedy at all and are full-blown political screeds. It shows an interview with Chevy Chase where he admits that he intended to hurt Gerald Ford and help Jimmy Carter as much as he could with his impersonation of Ford as a bumbling fool.
Dice said that the late night “comedians” have had some political influence as when Jimmy Kimmel brought his sick son on the show and said that if Obamacare was repealed, other kids who had the same illness would not get treated because their parents would not be able to afford it.
Apparently, John Oliver has had quite a bit of influence on politicians and issues, which is quite frightening. He is a horrible leftist.
These late night guys admit to consulting with Democrat politicians like Schumer, and every Democrat candidate for president in 2020 made an appearance on these shows.
I forget which one got in trouble with the leftist mob for having Trump on his show and being civil to him. They said he humanized Trump, and this host later apolgized for it.
Anyway, that’s quite a bit of it. Dice makes great videos, although they can be depressing since he shows just how bad things are now.
His videos aren’t that long. Usually not much more than 10 minutes.
Dice said he lost his job because NBS didn’t like how Jay was starting to make jokes about Obama.
A few days ago I clicked on a YouTube link to an old Carson show featuring Joan Embery and her zoo animals. Carson was genuinely funny. I kept looking for the leftist hate, and it just was not there. No hate at all! No race obsession! No politics obsession! No bizarre sexual anything! No insanity! Carson and Embery were just NORMAL! I felt like clapping.

Leno was an old school Democrat. He was a guy you could be buddies with and have a beer. He wouldn’t take it personal. To his credit, he’s no longer doing comedy for NBC and all he is doing nowadays are those car shows.
Not a late night show but there was a brief series in 1986 called Sledge Hammer! The creator stated that he hated Republicans. The worst things he wrote to denigrate us would be considered lightweight today.
not true, they love to make fun of Christians, southern, poor whites in general, and anyone from Europe.
They don’t care if anyone makes jokes about Italians, or Irish, or French, etc.
No nationwide protest the racist depiction of Italians in Mario ect.
I saw an episode of Ferguson where he had Robin Williams on.
I think it was about the funniest thing I ever saw on a talk show..

Except it isn’t actual humor, it’s snark. There’s nothing clever or funny about it.

Yeah Ferguson was a decent host. Gotta be quick witted and be able to ad-lib with guests and he could do that.
Plus when you are a genuinely decent person, that comes through too. He wasn’t faking it. You saw the real Craig, as much as you could, he enjoyed what he was doing.
And I remember when he got his citizenship (I think it was - might just have been a green card) he was genuinely proud of becoming and American and said as much.
