These Iconic '70s Songs Will Make You Want to Break out Your Bell Bottoms(or puke)
msn ^

Whether you remember them fondly or weren't even alive yet, the 1970s was an interesting decade for the music industry. Who can forget the disco queens and rhinestone cowboys? Flashy rock stars like Elton John and Freddie Mercury filled stadiums, and softer hits from The Carpenters and Tony Orlando and Dawn filled the airwaves. No matter which genre is your favorite, these popular songs will take you back to a time of hippies, fondue parties and leisure suits (and don't forget to check out our guide to unforgettable '60s moments and the hit songs of summer through the years too!).

Oh, I beg to differ.

Bang A Gong (Get It On) - T.Rex

I'm Eightteen - Alice Cooper

Night Moves - Bob Seger

We're An American Band - Grand Funk

La Grange - ZZ Top

I could go on and on - great soul music (light years ahead of the black music of today), great r&b, great British acts (Badfinger, Bad Company, Rod Stewart, Faces, Stones).

There was great music. We used to watch Soul Train and American Bandstand. There was good music in the 70s. Everybody was dancing in the moonlight. :-)

And they played the heck out of Angie Baby as I recall. I thought Ode to Billy Joe was kind of a southern gothic tune. It was a little spooky to me.

The 70s was the golden age of progressive rock. Haven’t you ever heard “Take a pebble” by Emerson, Lake and Palmer?

Nope. I haven't listened to 70s music since the 70s. It was that awful.

Worst list ever.

The 70’s was a great decade for music.

Surprised that some people here didn’t like 70’s music... Maybe they were listening to the music on that list.

I had a summer job at an amusement park in the 1970s and one of my co workers was named Lorraine. Sweet Lorraine always made me think of her. Loved her and that song. :)

Not familiar with Uriah Heep, but the cover art reminded me of another favorite 70s rock band YES...and sure enough the same guy, Roger Dean , did a lot of YES album art also.
