Those ingredient lists are always astonishing, aren’t they?

I love the universal catch-all ingredients: FLAVORING and SPICE. That narrows it right down!

Like you, I was surprised to see that breakfast cereal wasn’t at the top of the processed foods list. They are probably the worst offenders! I generally eat whole grain breakfast cereals without a lot of preservatives or weird ingredients, but now and then I break down and enjoy a bowl of Captain Crunch or Frosted Flakes.

Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds was my go to cereal but after several years, I got sick of it. Breakfast is normally 1-2 eggs and a small hunk of meat now. We've got a laying hen and I'm the only one who eats eggs for the most part. I don't even feed the thing and she still lays an egg every day. Wish I could clone it. Someone gave is a dozen high dollar eggs, brown, pasture raised, fancy box, certified humane, probably $6/dozen or more. Fried one up with one of our hen's eggs and hers still had a darker yolk.

Here's that cereal's label;

Loaded with nutrients, 40%, 80%, 100% of RDA but most are added. It's like taking a multivitamin. I have my doubts as to whether its as good as getting them from real food.
