In both grade schools I attended, they didn’t even have cafeterias. Or school buses. The kids all lived close enough that everyone walked home for lunch and then back again. Then in jr. high and high school, we could either buy a cheap school lunch or brown bag. I brown bagged 98% of the time, because it meant I could go outside and eat, weather permitting, or, in high school, go down to the music dept. practice rooms, eat quickly and get in some practice time. ;)
