NEW YORK -- More than 1,000 Southwest Airlines flights were canceled and hundreds more were delayed amid an increase in travel over the fall holiday weekend.
The flight-tracking website FlightAware.com shows that Southwest canceled 28% of its flights as of Sunday morning while hundreds more face delays.
More than 800 Southwest flights were canceled Saturday and upwards of 1,100 flights were delayed, according to FlightAware.

"Some airlines continue to experience scheduling challenges due to aircraft and crews being out of place," an FAA spokesperson said in a statement.

All an attempt to cancel culture Columbus Day. They can’t change what the guy did but they’ll keep swinging and missing. Democrats are control freaks. They may think they control all of Hollywood but some aren’t playing their game. I saw an article about one, “Actor Morgan Freeman Skips Woke Hollywood Bandwagon: ‘I’m Not the Least Bit for Defunding the Police’”, and you can give that a look at Breitbart. As someone famous he spends a lot of time around cops and knows what the vast majority of them are really like. I don’t know a single person who celebrates MLK day either (taking it off doesn’t count as celebrating it), but let them thrash about thinking they accomplished something.

Agreed. And they are doing all they can to get everything in under the wire before the elections take place in 2022.
Even with all the unresolved fraud issues, they will probably still lose big, and they know it.
But they are determined to poison pill this country before then with every piece of destructive, debt inducing, and sovereignty destroying legislation they can contrive.

The Federal Aviation Administration told ABC News that no air traffic staffing shortages were reported over the weekend. The agency attributed a few flight cancellations and delays on Friday to severe weather, military training and limited staffing at the Jacksonville Air Route Traffic Control Center.
Some mixed messaging there. ATC issues. No ATC issues. Staffing issues at ATC.
This doesn’t surprise me, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this happen in other industries, basically cripple companies and the economy, nothing official just let it spread like it’s going viral.....sort of like, “Let’s Go Brandon”....

Why would the aircraft and crews being out of place when they are scheduling the flights?
I'm guessing the more likely reason is that they want to pack every flight to the gills and not enough passengers show up to do that.
Columbus Day or Indigenous People’s Day if you are one of the government workers who actually get the day off.
