Astrachan thinks it's logical that Red Bull takes a price increase given the elevated inflationary environment, which would open the door to Monster Beverage (and likely others in the space) jacking up prices.
To be sure, energy drink makers are likely feeling the squeeze on their margins.
Aluminum prices — obviously used in the production of cans that house highly potent energy drinks — has shot up by 40% this year due mostly to demand in industrial applications. Another key raw material used in energy drink production — sugar — has seen prices rise 33% on the year.
Factor in surging oil and gas prices weighing on transportation costs, it's clear energy drink makers must follow other food producers by lifting prices to protect profits.
PepsiCo Vice Chairman and CFO Hugh Johnston told Yahoo Finance Live this week the company has raised prices with no hit to consumer demand.

I have noticed that beer is going to four sixteen ounce cans...
“The price of Red Bull, other energy drinks may be about”
Yep, I was just saying that they may be about.
I just turned 70 and I’ve never had a single “energy drink” in my entire life. I drink about one carbonated beverage every year, mainly to calm a rare upset stomach.
Am I missing a great experience?
Never had either one..............
I noticed that too. Ironically, the 16 oz cans are cheaper than the 12 oz. They seem to taste better too.
Sugar free Red Bull is ok, but I prefer to make an extra cup of coffee.
It's a jump-starter, both similar-to and different-from coffee.
I use them sparingly, no more than one every few months, but when I need one, they can really help bring brain and body into focus.
Nasty stuff. Tasted it once. It reminded me of old socks.
The price should go up. Way up. It’s not solar or wind energy, after all.
“If you have a morning where your body is slow and brain is foggy...”
In other words, every morning?
This is news? What the heck is NOT increasing in price?
“Biden is great, we love soaring prices, we love sky high gasoline, we love paying more for everything, we love empty shelves, we love violent open borders, we love higher crime, we love restrictive travel and having a violently divided country is so cool!
Go Biden!”
“Red Bull gives you wings. Tequila gives you balls!”
Red Bull in the can is a reformulation of a syrupy Thai energy drink which was an imitation of the Japanese Lipovitan. The Thai company, TC Pharmaceutical, licensed it to an Austrian in the late 90s. He made the carbonated formula big in Europe then brought it to the US.
Red Bull in Thailand sponsors the Saturday morning muay thai bouts.
In the US it is sold in Asian markets in the syrup bottles as “Kratieng Dang”, which means “Red Bull.” It is way cheaper than the fizzy stuff, but nastier.
” I have noticed that beer is going to four sixteen ounce cans...”
That is nothing new for higher end craft brews. Now if you are seeing that for Miller light like Beers that might be telling.
Started drinking Red Bull a few years ago instead of coffee when I went back to work. Like it very much now, plus I like their Formula One team. Doing my part to keep them all multi-millionaires.
It’s also a nice mixer for a vodka adult beverage.
I’ll drink one or two a week in addition to my expresso coffee in the morning. They do make the mind more alert and aware.
Red bulls are the best tasting ones.
NAW those are much better things out there? Sugar bad.
While numbing the brain.
Who the hell would be stupid enough to believe that the prince of aluminum is a factor in the price of a Red Bull? I can buy twelve cans of name-brand cola for the price of one tiny can of Red Bull.
