‘s BGP announcements getting published again. Likely means service is on a path to getting restored.
Please,Please,Please dear God take twitter down forever !!
LOL. Yeah right!
Oh, what a calamity! However will I share pictures of my breakfast with the world?
I was just thinking the same thing.
If your company is subject to federal and international oversight you back up your server each evening to an outside server. This is needed in case of a recall, lot traceability, etc. So yes you are right.
Perhaps a nice bumper sticker? LOL ;)
Remember, tape does not last forever and unless they did a check of the backup tape/server there could be issues.
I remember that scene. What movie or TV show was it on?
I doubt it because of backups, but if true:
1. Why did Zuck allow it or maybe do it himself? What’s in the code that could be used against him?
2. If somebody can do it to Facebook, who can’t they do it to and who’s next?

And so it begins - The Begunning.
Steve Bannon, on now, says FB founder Mark Zuckerberg has lost $6.5 billion in personal wealth TODAY. Also, FB is now saying the “reason for the outages is unknown”.

Yea, I’m not getting my panties wet and I don’t wear panties.
Centralization vs. decentralization.
What is happening to Facebook today is why people should not be for centralization or the Cloud. Thus, if someone deletes it, then good bye forever.
If something is decentralized, then the web remains up. DARPA had this argument from the very beginning. Initially they agreed to decentralization. That way the web could survive a nuclear attack.
What we are seeing today with Facebook is due to Centralization of its site. This why you do not do it.
So why do so many push for it. Because the control freaks want to control what people say and think.
If things got hot, army of hackers is essential. Also being able to communicate primitive.
I dunno. If you ask me, it’s sabotage. Bring in the usual suspects.
Still like Laz and others said, very hard to believe they don’t have everything backed up every day. Even back in the early days of computers, serious users had a system in place to organize their backups on 7, 30, even 365 day rotations (discs were expensive so you would keep at least a series of 7 disks for each day of the week for backup). Today with automation it is redundantly stored and backed up constantly.
If it is a very serious hack, it’s probably foreign governmental in nature. Maybe Trump was right, they shouldn’t have been using Huawei routers.
