Wonder which one our “justice” system will punish the harshest?
No! It really is a question...

Hopefully the court/jury in Uvalde, TX (west of San Antonio) ain’t like the courts in Austin.

It is a good question.
Chasing the killer with a baseball bat looks justifiable and it looks from the article that the hero did nothing wrong. If the hero had started clubbing the killer, that would have been different, but it looks like he just held him until police arrived. God bless him.
Normally defense of other is the same as self defense and the force you use should not be significantly more deadly that the force used against you unless the opponent is a burglar in your home.
Here, the hero wasn’t really defending the victim who had died but was pursing the defendant. Looks good to me.
BTW, our justice system is not perfect but it is way ahead of whatever else is out there. However, these days perversity increases the closer you get to the federal level and the White House.

we need sensible bat-control. No one needs a 34” 30 oz louisville slugger for hunting.

Beg pardon, my favorite used to be a Louisville Slugger 36 made of hickory. Lot of people couldn’t swing it. I used to but can’t now. It was a medium brown color. Got it and used when I was in my teens. But for the life of me I can’t remember how I acquired it. Sometime around 1960 when we lived in Georgia seems about right.

Partner, you ain't lying!
I carry two (2) aluminum baseball bats in the back of my seat and a crowbar. Sometimes, I think that is not enough. BTW, great post.

"Hopefully the court/jury in Uvalde, TX (west of San Antonio) ain’t like the courts in Austin."You got caught by the same stupid reporting that I did. This all happened in or near Houston, on Uvalde street.

The killer was out on bail for several other felonies, and he has been granted bail in this case as well.
smh. Harris county judges need to be charged as accessories to murder.
