It seems that her lungs are being transformed into a leather type of consistency making gas exchange near impossible.
I have seen this phenomenon many times and it is heartbreaking to behold.
It is not beyond reparable but if the Patient is uncooperative or unwilling then all I have for you is prayer.

Thanks, Radix. I don’t know what the future holds. She finally got in to see her pulmonologist a couple of weeks ago and she is feeling better. Use her Nebulizer, THEN use Advair twice a day. Fast inhaler is in there somewhere. But she’s at risk. Had her first bout with pneumonia when she was 6 mo old? Both she and my mom had it. My mom died of an asthma attack when she was 36, but it was in 1967.
We lived way out of town in the country, ambulances were just that, I believe her med was Bronchaid Mist, which I think is a killer in and of itself.
The interesting thing, is my oldest/first grandson was diagnosed with mild cystic fibrosis. So I often wonder if my mom didn’t have Bronchiectasis or something.
My grandson says.. “I have a very sensitive mucous membrane system.” Haha.. true, it’s just the way he says it!
