yes the Narrows is a pretty spot too. I think I’ve been up there a time or two.
Yeah, the train trestle, which I rode a scenic steam train over a few years back. Motor City and Locust Grove, which floods out every few years. (They’ve found new cars submerged several miles downstream after the spring rains recede.). The Fruit Bowl, home to local produce and every bulk candy you ever ate as a child. Always a stop when I go there.
Seriously?
My cousin did not know the name. They are about the same age so I wondered.
Who was the old lady? I guess not his mom? They’re talking as if he knew her somehow.
The was a video or something? A pic of the old lady? Link?
Oh crud. Mixing up stories! LOL
Seriously, there was a triple murder - of a lady in Cumberland and yesterday same Cumberland guy had been a few blocks from us in Ellicott City and killed his brother and SIL.
I have not seen THAT story on FR yet but was conflating it with your comments on this (Cumberland) thread.
BTW, they caught the man in WV.
Exactly, I had a flat tire there a few years ago. Not many good tire stores in La Vale.
.............................................
Actually there are two, one on US Route 40 and a Super Walmart on Winchester Road. Both sell Michelans and several other major brands.
The Bob Evans hasn’t closed yet? I thought it did. That’s how we first discovered it. Also Chick-Fil-A was in Country Club Mall before any of us easterners heard of it.
.........................................
Now there is a Cracker Barrel and a second Chick-Fil-A. Also an Applebee’s and a Buffalo Wings joint.
Yeah, the Times-Snooze has a paywall, so I catch the highlights at WCBC-AM’s website. They caught that guy in WV.
I ate at D’Atri’s just a couple of days ago!
Best cheesesteak ever!!
............................................
I live on a farm in beautiful Garrett County, just 1/4 mile off I-68, but my address is Frostburg. D’Atri’s is a good restaurant.
I 68 from Hancock to Frostburg is the most beautiful stretch of Interstate highway east of the Mississippi! Sweeping curves, hills, vistas and lack of traffic make this an unbelievable exhilarating drive!
..............................................
I live 1/4 mile off I-68 just west of Frostburg in Garrett County. Actually I-68 is beautiful from Hancock all the way to where it ends at I-79 near Morgantown. When first built it was humorously referred to as the Interstate from nowhere to nowhere!
Dan’s Mountain?
......................................
Yep, off Route 36 about 12 miles south of Frostburg. Dan’s Mountain in these parts is known as the the Allegheny Front. To the immediate west is the Georges Creek valley and immediately west of that is Big Savage Mountain where I live.
Perhaps Big Savage Mountain is higher, But the views are incredible at Dan’s Rock.
..................................
I live on Big Savage, and just over the summit going west is where there have been two multi-vehicle crashes within the past about eight years. The first involved like 70-80 vehicles and a couple of fatalities. Definitely not a safe road when the snow is flying and the temperature is in the teens.
Partied there a couple times in the 70’s. The recollection is hazy though.
..................................
Beer parties, huh? (Is there any other kind?)
The Narrows.
.................................
Old Klein’s restaurant is in the Narrows, but that’s really Cumberland not LaVale so probably was not where he acted out.
Pity he didn’t freak out in Scales ‘N Tails.
:D
“Eugene”
Hi, Cumberland native here.
Worked in DC for 17 years but came back to avoid the Beltway, lol.
Hen House is my favorite local place. Haven’t tried the fish n chips, though, because I love the seafood, crabcakes and swordfish.
their soups are excellent..
we are new to the area...living in retirement village in Grantsville...so still close to PA. border and can keep a lot of our activities we have had for years...
Maryland very liberal...but I ignore all politics here, and lots of Trump supporters that drive the liberals nuts....love it...
low-brow’80s TV and movies
...............................
Nicely phrased! LOL.
My wife is a Cumberland native.
What I really want is the recipe for Curtis’s cony sauce!
