Several years ago we took
Amtrak from Pasco WA to Portland Or transferred to the Amtrak coming down from Seattle going to Sacramento CA. On the trip back because Amtrak does NOT own any of the rails they have to give the right of way to the freight trains. On coming back Amtrak had to pull over on a side rail a lot of times for the freight trains and this put our train way behind schedule to get to Portland in time to catch the train to Pasco. So they took us off the train in Klamath Falls, Or. put us on a Greyhound bus with some sandwiches and we were on our way directly to Pasco, WA. It was NOT what we were expecting 6 hr 30 min (386.5 mi) via US-97 N.
