The machinery inside of even heavy-duty printer/copiers is generally designed around that 15 - 25 pound paper and anything over those weights (photo paper is a good example) tend to be processed one.sheet.at.a.time through (mostly) an auxiliary feed system that is straight thru and doesn't require the sheet to be wrapped around a feed roller.
My best guess is that the 80 pound requirement was added just to make that copy-the-ballot-on-the-office-copier ploy unworkable.
Only way to make a fraud ballot on 80-pound paper would be to use the same type of printing machinery used to make the "real" ballots. (Then ship 'em in from China....)

I need to attend some of the meetings in my precinct when I return home and see what I can do to help the cause. My work takes me out of state for too long to consider holding down a local precinct committee position, unless such an absence would somehow be acceptable? I’ll have to find out when I show up to one of the meetings.
