NORTH PORT, Fla. – Brian Laundrie’s mom Roberta did check in to a Florida park about 75 miles north of the family’s home earlier this month, records obtained by Fox News show.
Laundrie, 23, vanished on Sept. 14 – although his parents didn’t say anything until three days later. His 22-year-old fiancée Gabby Petito was found dead in Wyoming on Sept. 19 – weeks after the couple was seen camping near the site of her remains. The coroner later ruled her death a homicide.
Duane "Dog" Chapman, also known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, announced Saturday he was entering the search for Laundrie, and tips quickly poured in. He told Fox News he received a heads-up on Monday that Laundrie’s parents spent the night in Fort De Soto Park with their son twice in early September from Sept. 1 to 3 and Sept. 6 to 8.
The documents confirm Chapman’s suspicion that the Laundries went camping at the Fort De Soto Park outside St. Petersburg between his return from out West on Sept. 1 and the day Petito’s mother reported her missing, Sept. 11. They show the family checked in on Sept. 6 and out on Sept. 8 – but there's no record on the document of them the week prior.
"I will no longer give that dog credibility or dignify his false claims with the time of my reply," Steven Bertolino, Laundrie’s attorney, told Fox News. However he admitted told local media that the family camped out on Sept. 6 and 7 and that "they all left the park."
The documents show the checkout was actually recorded on Sept. 8 – three days before Petito officially became a missing person.

I don’t claim that anything I write is fact - I use terms like ‘may’, and ‘could have’ - and I try to use logic.
But my assumptions could be wrong, and I’m glad to admit that - unlike others here who think they know absolutely what happened and have the right to condemn right and left.
“I don’t claim that anything I write is fact - I use terms like ‘may’, and ‘could have’ - and I try to use logic.”
Let us count May’s and could haves in your post:
“There’s a reason the Feds went after his use of the banking instruments, when they could have gone after the van a lot sooner.”
I think that it’s likely that he killed her, perhaps in the heat of an argument. (Of course, something extraordinary could have happened that we know nothing about.)
My argument isn’t over the death.
It’s over the people who keep condemning his parents before they really know anything at all about what he told them, and what they really knew and when they knew it.
(If all of you are certain that your adult kids never, ever lie to you, I salute you - but I also think you’re fooling yourselves.)
Who told you that they refused to answer the mother’s questions?
It’s common knowledge but here is a link...
“Petito said his family began worrying after several days without hearing from their daughter.
“We called Brian, we called the mom, we called the dad, we called the sister, we called every number that we could find,” Petito said. “No phone calls were picked up, no text messages were returned.””
It seems if he is hiding out there I don’t see how his parents could be getting any supplies to him. They are under a microscope now.
This is gonna be interesting when they find him. I suppose if he did head into the wild it is also possible he is dead.
“It’s over the people who keep condemning his parents before they really know anything at all about what he told them, and what they really knew and when they knew it.”
Dad: Welcome home! Where’s Gabby?
Brian: I don’t know.
Dad: Great! Let’s go camping in my new camper.
Or someone found out and took him for a long walk off a short pier.
Correct, now they’re being closely watched.
But at the beginning of the month, Gabby wasn’t reported missing yet.
I think the parents and perp didn’t expect Gabby’s body to be found so quickly,
That really screwed their plans.
Thank goodness for the campers that drove by the white van with a camera running in their windshield.
Why do you think they didn’t go after the van first?
That was pretty obvious and available, compared with the time it took to track down his use of bank accounts.
He could have told them that they broke up, and that she hooked up with some other people and told him to leave.
Do you know exactly what he told his parents?
With all respect, I don’t have a lot of faith in ‘common knowledge’ and ‘hearsay’.
I like to hear evidence under oath in a court of Law - and cross-examined.
I’m just like that.
You’re a troll.
Yup.
As evidenced by your posts, common sense isn't high on your list either.
We don’t know what he told them, and we don’t know what they thought of what he told them.
I have seen parents who would believe anything their kid told them.
That’s what makes all the speculation so much grist for the mill. We could all be sitting at a bar half snockered having this conversation, & I don’t think it would be much different LOL
What would I be ‘trolling’ for?
I agree with you :-)
(And perhaps some of us are...)
Driving down the information highway under the influence LOL
Unfortunately, what many of us consider ‘common sense’ often doesn’t carry a lot of weight in a court of law. That’s why LE, lawyers, etc., look for factual evidence.
(You can work to change that, if you like; but I think it’s always been a pretty good system.)
No way. In every pic or video of him, he has the same, arrogant and secretive smirk. He has already convinced himself and his enabling parents, that Gabby was mean, bitchy, abusive, and finally goaded him into an act of violence, that he had no choice and now she has ruined his life.
