My guess is they will pull certified medical personnel who are reservists from RED states...until they can bring in cheap foreign labor...

Looks like her eyes and some of her face go in different directions.
And they will find that most of the natl guard members are already working in the jobs they will be detailed to fill.
It ain’t like trained nurses and medics are just sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting to be called.
Duh.

Upstate University Hospital releases statement on healthcare vaccine deadline approaching
The plan, outlined in a statement from Hochul on Saturday, would allow her to declare a state of emergency to increase the supply of healthcare workers to include licensed professionals from other states and countries as well as retired nurses.
Hochul said the state was also looking at using National Guard officers with medical training to keep hospitals and other medical facilities adequately staffed. Some 16% of the state’s 450,000 hospital staff, or roughly 72,000 workers, have not been fully vaccinated, the governor’s office said.
Healthcare workers who are fired for refusing to get vaccinated will not be eligible for unemployment insurance unless they are able to provide a valid doctor-approved request for medical accommodation, Hochul’s office said.

Here’s what’s going to happen. A nurse in the Guard is going to be called up to replace an unvaccinated nurse. The position formally filled by the Guard nurse is now empty.
End result? Nothing has changed, except the Guard nurse is inconvenienced for no good reason.
Not knocking the National Guard and I’ll bet they can do a great job taking care of battlefield wounded but can they really perform the duties of ICU and Trauma Nurses?
This is assuming there are 94,000 New York NG troops with the needed medical skills to fill the myriad of medical worker positions ...

Unpaid leave means they can call them back. If it were me and I was willing to go this far without a job, I would not go back. But I suppose many of these people really want to help people and will go where they are needed.
