Everyone has uniquely individual life circumstances. This nation used to honor individual liberty, so that people could make their own choices and enjoy—or suffer—the consequences, learning and growing.
If a senior citizen has a large family who live nearby, has a sense that they have all their affairs in order, and/or have not left important matters undone, than they can perhaps play Russian roulette by taking the vaccines. After all, the mRNA's are "safe and effectlve"—for the people they are safe and effective for. But for others, they are a death sentence. Even worse, for some they are a gamble on a permaent disability.
Seniors who are clinging to their independence, perhaps on a limited income, and with few family members may prefer to catch covid, if God allows it, and die of it with a clear conscience—rather than gamble on taking the jab and ending up in a wheelchair, hobbling the life or plans of their only nephew or daughter, or worse, being rejected by the one or two friends or relatives left and die abandoned with tubes down their throat in a wretched public nursing home. Where is the digity in that?

To me it's odd that you mention the threat of developing autoimmune diseases from this mRNA vaccine. My wife was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis when she was nineteen. Years later, she was diagnosed with Endometriosis. After that, she was diagnosed with Graves disease. My wife then developed a debilitating case of Eczema.
After four diseases identified as, or linked to, autoimmune disease, I sent our Doctor an email asking, considering this, should she get the vaccine or avoid it for fear that it could be problematic. Our Doctor advised that my wife should get vaccinated.
So, I guess my wife should have no worries about developing an autoimmune disease you caution about. At least she's got that going for her.
