Had a mild case recently that I attributed to the pico de gallo I got from Wally World and out in my special chicken salad. The cilentro in the pico looked wilted and soggy but I only dsicovered that aspect after having put half of the conatiner contents into the chicken salad. I make burritos with the mix ... well, I used to, I am stopping buying their pico. I will make my own from fresh, washed, onions, tomatoes, peppers, cilentro and lime juice.
"disease coming across the borders"
They are allowed to get sick from other things, but if they die you can bet your bottom dollar it will be from Covid.
Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia spared.
Maybe the SEC had something to do with it? ;->
Or maybe track the Haitian illegals!
Their slogan in the 80s was “Run to the Border,” but it should have been “Run to the bathroom.”
Unholy merda! How many merda illegals carried that crappy disease to these states, Texas and Oklahoma and ?!

I’ve heard that countries have their own team of germs that the residents get used to. It’s only the visitors that have a problem. Not sure if that’s true, but it sounds right.
Yet I would say the U.S. is not one of those with a germ team.
My rule is if something happens that MIGHT spoil the food, throw it out.
It’s not even worth the worrying that you will do about whether it was okay to eat it, not to mention the real sickness that can occur.
A friend of mine brought something from Taco Hell back and gave me one.
It was a rolled flour tortilla with a wet inside of some tasteless red sauce.
It was gross and slimy. It got chuked into the garbage disposer.
Really gross horrible crap.
Remember their slogan?
"Run For The Border Bathroom"
Yep, right you are. If...and that’s a big if...potato salad causes problems,, it’s more likely the potatoes or onions, not the mayo, that causes it. Mayo is too acidic, not likely the bacteria can live in it.
Onions are a different story. I don’t even put a half onion back in the fridge to use 2 days from now, I go ahead and chunk it in the compost pile. 3 hours in the fridge and a half onion can soak up its own weight in bacteria...ok that’s an exaggeration, but you get the picture...
Whatever this is, probably from a mexican food franchise. I don’t know of anything else that uses cilantro. But onion is the most likely carrier. I would guess more likely a fast food place than a big restaurant, but that is very possible too.
Taco hell would be first on my list...I won’t go there anyway, I had one taco 30 years ago, never again...just plain nasty...might give it to the neighbor’s dog and see if it keeps him out of my yard though...tired of the shredded plastic bags...and the constant barking...hey now there’s an idea, I have a good use for that spoiled taco...send one over...
I wonder if that’s why there was an old folk remedy to put a raw onion on your foot, or in the room to fight flu
Could be, I never thought about it from that angle. I just stumbled into good article about it a few years ago, where they quoted scientific studies indicating mayo was too acidic, and that onions absorb bacteria.
