And an adulterer. And a murderer (by proxy). And a coveter (particularly of Uriah the Hittite’s wife). BUT . . . he always, but ALWAYS, humbled himself before God Almighty, admitted his sins, and repented.
Patton was one of the most well-known potty-mouths in modern history. But his heart was clean. God isn’t happy with bad habits, but I sincerely believe that He looks beyond them, directly into the spirit of the person, and evaluates him or her based on what He sees with His eyes, not what we hear with our ears.
SLIDE
I am aware of those transgressions of David’s. Don’t ever seeing a salty tongue referred to as among his iniquities.

Of course, God alone knows what is in our hearts, and He alone can judge us. I hardly think I suggested that anyone is going to hell for cussing. Please!
My opinion on foul language was shaped by my upbringing in post-War USA. Boys and girls, in the 1950s, were raised to behave in a respectable manner. We were taught proper table manners and how to be respectful toward adults and toward one another. Girls were schooled on how to act like a lady – to be modest with our dress and with our manner of speaking and interacting with others. Boys were instructed on how to be gentlemen – to be chivalrous with females and to show them respect by not using coarse language in their presence. Men put women on a pedestal in those days, and the family was revered.
I am left to assume that our dear Jim Robinson was raised in a similar manner, as one of his rules here on FR is for us not to use profanity.
