Of course, mandating vaccines—like mandating any medical treatment—would still be immoral even if we could list a dozen studies suggesting boosters are a boon and that natural immunity is no good.
Mandating medical treatment for the ‘benefit of society’ is a very, very slippery slope. To zealots, just about anything can be justified.
Even though I had covid I am treated as though I have the plague from all my vaccinated coworkers. Seriously, they are delusional as I’m no longer asked to go to lunch, my previous walking partners no longer associate with me anymore. These people, sadly are truly delusional and at times outright obnoxious.
If someone could post links to the studies that would be amazing
Of course prior infection will be durable and more effective. We’ve thrown out 100+ years of virology on this while they say “follow the science”. Israel had been including previously infected and recovered among their “green passport” holders, but it is much easier to track people in a country that size and with a nationalized healthcare system.
In the USA, it will be very difficult to prove natural immunity. Each person basically has to figure it out for themselves and make their own choices. That is not something government likes to allow. So they sell us on “universal vaccination” like it’s a hamburger. Sloganeering is not science.
When I read a sentence that shows the writer’s innumeracy as clearly as: “ those who had experienced prior infections were 27 times less likely to get a second symptomatic infection”
I am somewhat unlikely to accept their surmise, since they don’t understand that when referring to a LOWER chance of something, it is rationally exemplified through a FRACTIONAL demonstration e.g. half as likely, 1/27th as possible.
MULTIPLES are used SOLELY for examples of LARGER likelihoods, not lower, e.g. 5 times as many, 80 times more.
Just my inner grammarian coming through.
That said, I will make my decision on whether or not to get the mRNA shot AFTER I see the results in a few years. I am still recovering from a flu shot that messed me up several years ago, and I am quite leery at this time.
