Hello, from Zone 7B in Georgia where it’s beginning to feel like Fall. The dogwood leaves are beginning to turn. Now is when my landscape business gets really busy. So thankful.
Thank you!
No problem, easy to break off whatever you need.
I will need cataract surgery in about 6 months. Doc just put it off. I am extremely nervous about anything getting near my eyes. Did they put you to sleep?
Zoykes! No, Thanks!
I am taking my doc’s recommendation. He did my Lasik some 20-years ago and changed my life! I believe it will be distance lens. I have worn glasses since 4th grade, so if I need glasses to read and use the computer, so be it. I will be happy to see more clearly and with better contrast.
Re: Cowboy Candy
We don’t like ‘hot’ at all. Last time I made them I used a pepper called ‘Sweet Heat’ and it was just perfect.
The thing with the recipe, though? The jars you pack last WILL be hotter, no matter what you do, so label accordingly.
My Sister days this is the BEST thing I can. She likes them on a cracker with cream cheese and some CC on top.
Speaking of ‘Cowboy’ recipes, I LOVE ‘Cowboy Caviar!’
YOU HAVE GOT TO WRITE A BOOK. MOST OF IT IS ALREADY WRITTEN ON THESE THREADS.
You’ve lead a fascinating life, know everything about gardening......and have great recipes (grin).
Thanks! I’m not that ambitious. ;) I will take it under advisement, though! :)
Just compile your threads.......do some editing......et voila.....a book.
You kids need to go play outside! But come in when the street lights come on, ya hear? ;)
Fruit, vegetables and exercise can make you happier (causation found)
Medical XPress / University of Kent / Journal of Happiness Studies ^ | Sept. 17, 2021 | Olivia Miller / Adelina Gschwandtner et al

New research has found that fruit and vegetable consumption and exercise can increase levels of happiness.
While the link between lifestyle and wellbeing has been previously documented and often used in public health campaigns to encourage healthier diets and exercise, new findings published by the Journal of Happiness Studies show that there is also a positive causation from lifestyle to life satisfaction.
This research is the first of its kind to unravel the causation of how happiness, the consumption of fruit and vegetables and exercising are related, rather than generalizing a correlation. The researchers used an instrumental variable approach to filter out any effect from happiness to lifestyle. It showed that it is rather the consumption of fruit and vegetables and exercising that makes people happy and not the other way round.
Findings demonstrate that the ability of individuals to delay gratification and apply self-control plays a major role in influencing lifestyle decisions, which in turn has a positive impact on wellbeing. The research also shows that men appear to exercise more, and women eat more fruit and vegetables.
With it being well known that lifestyle diseases are a leading cause of ill health and mortality worldwide, and the UK having one of the highest obesity rates in Europe, these findings could have significant implications for public health policy.
Dr. Gschwandtner said: “Behavioral nudges that help the planning self to reinforce long-term objectives are likely to be especially helpful in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. If a better lifestyle not only makes us healthier but also happier, then it is a clear win-win situation.”

Note to self: Stay in Wisconsin!
We do have some HUGE sink holes that are naturally occurring, but I think you could probably climb your way back out. ;)
Or, they turn into pretty Tourist Traps! (Somewhere in the Wisconsin Dells.)
You’re hired, LOL! :)
Mmmmmmm.......just dedicate it to me......snx.
I’m HANDING you a ‘Million Dollar Idea’ here, LOL!
I’ve often thought of starting a blog, but they’ve been done to death. If I had started 20 years ago, I’d probably be right up there with the other Midwest garden ‘experts.’
*SNORT*
My niece introduced us to Cowboy Caviar - it was really good. For a while, it was her “go to” recipe to take to pot lucks & she never had any leftovers to bring home.
Correction: “folks that love soil, manure, seeds and plants of all kinds, except weeds.”
Greeneyes! One of our ‘customers’ thinks we should change your intro. :)
*************************************************************************************
While I have no objection to you changing the intro, I do not agree with this change, because I love SOME weeds.
For example, Dandelions. I think they are pretty, but more importantly all parts are edible-disguised food that many people won’t even recognize as such. Thus you have food hiding in plain sight.
And there are others.... just my 2 cents.
There are no street lights here in the exurbs...
