The fiancé of missing 'van-life' woman Gabby Petito presents himself as a sweet and caring guy, but is actually jealous and controlling, her friend has claimed in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com.
Rose Davis said Brian Laundrie, 23, allegedly went so far as to hide Gabby's ID once so that she couldn't meet up with her at a bar, triggering a violent episode similar to the one police investigated weeks before her disappearance.
'Brian took her ID just so she wouldn't be able to come out with me,' she told DailyMail.com on Friday.
'He's got these jealousy issues and he struggles from what Gabby called these "episodes," where he would hear things and hear voices and wouldn't sleep.

If you go back over the past thirty years...the recruitment and hiring practices are out-of-whack for the police. Doesn’t matter if you are talking urban or rural.
There's really no explaining it other than this story has a "girl next door" affluent suburban vibe to it. A lot of people have confused young women like this in their families or circle of friends so it hits home more than say, some inner city kid from a poor crime ridden neighborhood disappearing. That typically is not considered newsworthy.
It’s starting to look like two mentally deranged drug addicts who deserve one another.
SMH...
The cop who drove Brian to the Bowen Motel for the night shared with Brian that his own wife had anxiety. Once she was prescribed medication for anxiety, she was a much better person. Made his quality of life better too.
Add this to the fact the cop arranged for Brian's motel stay to be reimbursed. Meanwhile, cop gave Gabby the name of a public shower facility where she could pay $4-5 for a shower.
FWIW...
For a variety of reasons, this case has captured the attention of the country: the girl's appearance; the boyfriend showing up alone; the blogging of the van-life story. It is, in some ways, a microcosm of dating in today's young culture.
You're here commenting, so the fate of Gabby has your interest as well.
They were childhood sweethearts.
From the article, “Laundrie would have episodes.. where he would hear things, hear voices and couldn’t sleep”.
Okay... that is called bat sh*t crazy. Both had issues with mental health (her... anxiety and OCD). What is alarming is the obvious control issues he had over her.. including taking her phone, demanding she not socialize or come home when he wanted etc.. One thing I will say with today’s youth (and yeah... go ahead and flame if you want) is the “complete and total acceptance” of mental illness. Follow me, please, before exploding. Today’s young have been taught via school/social media/hollywood/etc.. that mental illness is okee dokee. No need to fear it. No need to NOT date someone diagnosed with it. It is just viewed like I would view a small wart on someone’s knee.. it isn’t a problem. With everyone so darn careful nowadays of NOT excluding someone based on (fill in the blank), we have so many young people dating people they shouldn’t. I am not in any way, form or manner stating someone with a mental illness should be abused, ridiculed, hurt etc... I am saying that NOT choosing to date a person who is mentally ill is a good, wise decision.
Bingo.
I’ve not seen anything that indicates they’re drug addicts.
Isn't it interesting that Laundrie claimed to be broke but offered the couple in the Tik Tok video $200 for a ride.
Agree. And two people with mental issues is extremely toxic.
I am wondering the same thing.
He. killed her. Plain and simple.
Missing Gabby Petito: Parents claim they haven’t seen Brian Laundrie since Tuesday

Laundrie’s lawyer, Steven Bertolino, said he didn’t know where his client was either.
“Be advised that the whereabouts of Brian Laundrie are currently unknown,” he told Fox News in a text message. “The FBI is currently at the Laundrie residence removing property to assist in locating Brian. As of now, the FBI is looking for both Gabby and Brian.”
100%.
We live in a world where psychological issues are almost trumpeted - and having a ‘condition’ to fall back on provides an excuse, many times.
I watched as a person close to me threatened and faked suicide attempts, became so angry at me they broke things and would be even more upset that I didn’t join in. Afterwards, their psychological condition was always the excuse.
The police were in a tough spot. They didn’t want to arrest her, they just wanted to restore the peace by separating them.
Bottom line: Another example of a pretty, pampered young girl with her own insecurities and demons attracted to a bad boy lowlife. Rarely ends well.
Mysteries are captivating.
“All of Gabby’s family want the world to know that Brian is not missing,
he is hiding. Gabby is missing.”
“What’s so special about her..?”
She’s not Kabul.
She’s not inflation.
She’s not a blown up aid worker or 7 children.
She’s not a suspect vaccine.
She’s not logistics of US goods.
She’s not China.
She’s not...
I’d bet they’re right.
