HK, I could be wrong, but I took Wuli’s post to mean, ‘we only get news of what is happening in the US from foreign outlets, because it doesn’t fit the domestic MSM narrative.’
God knows we’ve seen what you bring up happen quite often; UK Daily Mail or some such giving us better quality news than our domestic outlets about domestic events.

...it seems clear to me that Wuli regards the two outlets as somewhat equally untrustworthy. Fair enough; you’d almost have to be God to know, because from what source would you reliably get the actual truth to use as a metric against the reporting? You’d have to be on-scene everywhere, and witness everything yourself to really know.
The Press were SUPPOSED TO BE the “Fact Checkers”; the people to root out the actual, factual, gory details of events; and the Gatekeepers were those old school Editors who’d fire you on the spot for theorizing or editorializing in a straight news story.
Those are bygone days in the halls of The Old Press.
So, now we’ve got “reporters” who gather a few facts, create their own theory, pose it in the form of a question to an involved official, and — if they get a positive response — it comes out in print as “according to such-and-so Official, >insert press-created theory here<” and end that sentence so the theory has the strongest possible support given the tone of the Official’s response to it; working as hard as possible to give the theory the varnish of Truth.
But, it continues, because there’s an increasingly unprincipled audience out there waiting for the latest “dish.” We used to — rightly — mock and deride tabloid reporting as dirty, low-brow, cheap-shot gutter-sniping; now we give it a Pulitzer.
