The Queen has always been a very decent and respectful woman.

(This side of the pond, we might say ‘classy’ :-)

I appreciate the support of the UK but I am worried about their lurch into totalitarianism.

The article distinctly identifies the Queen as the one who made all of these ceremonial decisions that were respectful of the US.

Don’t confuse the Queen with the UK politicians.

I can’t quit watching this. It was tough then and is now, seeing the raw emotion.

The British royals are a pathetic and despicable bunch. But there is one shining exception to that. It’s Queen Elizabeth herself.

Here she is serving during the Blitz. She could have fled to a safer region. But like her parents, she stayed in London and contributed to the war effort. G_d bless her.

I understand she takes actions when she is “advised” to do things under her authority that were actually decided by others to whom the Crown’s authority has long been delegated at this point, but she is still more than just a figurehead and make decisions like this.

They are going through the same thing we are going through. As are the French and Aussies. TOTB are playing with fire. They think they hold all the cards, they don’t.

Her Majesty can stop this nonsense anytime she wants to. That’s the point of a constitutional monarchy. She is no mere figurehead as a recent PM discovered when an admiral stated that his oath is to the Queen.

If she stood up against Marxism the military and the people would stand with her.

I’m pretty sure she probably has a very good mind of her own, and exerts it when she sees necessary - regardless of ‘advisors’.

And I’m sure she’s very deft at doing that :-)

At the opening of the service, “The Star-Spangled Banner” was played with the Queen singing along.

Amazing, since the song derides her own country's servicemen as "the foe's haughty host."

Would they do the same with Biden as President, now with a history of surrender?

I saw today, on the “news,” that they were playing the “Star Spangled Banner” today in London.

I knew an Englishman who had come to the US and become a citizen. He was a highly educated and successful scientist, but he said that he liked the fact that there is no ‘class system’ here - when he went into a store in the US, he was treated with the same respect as anyone would be. But it had been different in England, where class - at least in his day - had still been a prevailing idea.

But, yeah. Perhaps the better word is ‘breeding’ - which I have never considered to have much to do with DNA, but rather with *culture*.

The Lady has good breeding.

I remember reading a biography of the Queen many years ago, and it contained a discussion about the benefit of having a constant leadership entity that was apart from and above politics and that unified the Nation.

I don’t remember the author, or where the quote came from (Churchill?) but the idea was that when things go bad politically in the UK, the people vote down the Prime Minister - but still sing ‘God Save the Queen’.

(I”m not saying it would be right for us, here - but it has always seemed to work for the UK.)
