Kinda. But students that age need to be around others, and one of the important things of college has always been the social aspect (not only in the Animal House sense, but in somewhat more elevated ways!). This means young people bouncing ideas off of other young people, sharing dreams, etc. and forming lifelong friendships. These are not things you can do via Zoom.

I can certainly see some mixed forms of learning, or even the students in a university environment following the old British tutorial system, where they lived together, had to follow a curriculum and learn certain things, which they could do by attending the lectures or studying independently, and then meeting with a tutor to assess their knowledge, turn in papers, etc.

I don’t think we need the current giant education factories, though, and those actually impersonalize the students and do not encourage learning or contact with professors who actually know something. Certainly remote or on-line could be part of it, but students need a place where there are other students.

Definitely there are now many opportunities for new forms and educational freedom.
