Yikes. Let me think a little. Would help to know more about your overall debt situation and income that comes in.

Bankruptcy is recoverable.

Is this something your spouse ran up without your knowledge?

You “found out?” As in, were surprised by it?
I don’t think the credit card debt is your biggest problem. Don’t focus on that first.

So pay it off. Didn’t you understand when you charged something you had to pay for it/
To: chasio649
I’d contact every card and ask for some forbearance.
Many companies will work with you. They’d rather get smaller or delayed payments and lower interest than nothing at all.
Also, contact a bankruptcy lawyer. See your options.

Pickup an extra job and pay it off. Cut back on all spending.

If you own real estate, and if you have equity in one or more properties, refinance and take the equity out to pay your credit card debts. If your debt is across several credit cards, consider doing a debt consolidation loan so everything is paid off except that loan. If you don’t have the ability to do any of these things, then bankruptcy is an option. There really should not be any shame in declaring bankruptcy since it is a perfectly legal way to resolve debt situations when there is no other choice.

If you bought stuff, or knew you spouse was, and ran up those charges, you are obligated to pay it as you agreed. If your spouse ran the charges without your knowledge, you are obligated to pay it as the courts will tell you. If you get divorced, you are obligated to pay it as the courts will tell you. But count your lucky stars that you found out before it was $450k.

Try Everyday Cheapskate. She has a chart to use. She and her spouse had a huge debt like that. It can be paid off.
