It's hard to think straight when you urgently need to liquidate some assets. In just such a moment, I sold off a .50 AE Desert Eagle. It was one of the last ones made by IMI in Israel before moving to Magnum Research, and even came with a certificate attesting to the same. I also sold off a 50th Anniversary Ruger MKII.
I miss them both.

Too many to count! Wish I still had my AR-15, and AR-180 Howa brand. S&W .22 pistol, M-13 S&W. Manurin Walther PPK in .32 cal.
Too many 30-30 Winchesters to count, Canadian Centennials, “Antique” 30-30(case hardened frame) Original 1973 Winchester in 38-40, Old Ruger pistols. A Uberti 1873 in 44-40. A .303 Jungle Carbine. Wish I had all of them back! Many were purchased before the horrid 1968 Gun Control Law.(No paper trail!)
Firearms I am GLAD to have gotten rid of...All old RGs, a Sterling .22 auto pistol(worst pistol I ever owned!) A Uberti yellow boy in .38 spl (someone before me shot HOT handloads in it and stretched the frame).
Ithaca Mag-10, loved that gun. Sold it 7 years ago. Just tried to buy it back but his son loves it now. I miss that gun.
And the boats I took for gun rides.
348 Winchester, 25-20 Winchester, both lever action. Sold them 50 years ago.Probably with 10 times more than what I sold them for.. Such is life.
True but the levers are so damned fun too.

Your approach forces you to be in gun-friendly, rural counties. They’ll catch up with you soon enough but at least you’ll get a head start.
Here’s a hint. When the time comes for your boating accident, bury your guns in a straight line so that they look like plumbing pipes to the ground penetrating radar guys — that technology is getting cheaper by the minute.

Once I got back on my feet, I replaced the Ruger Mark II with a slabside Browning Buckmark. Truth is, it’s a much better pistol and way easier to disassemble and clean, but it’s just not the same. Likewise, my consolation for losing the Desert Eagle was buying myself a first generation Colt Delta Elite. Great shooter and the 10mm is a hell of a round, but it’s just not the same as the .50AE. Something about spent brass you can use as a trashcan :-)
An old Colt 38 Detective. Beautiful Nickle-Blue and in beautiful condition.
A beautiful Colt Series 70 Gold Cup .45ACP that I had customized with an Armalloy hard chrome finish and had the slide tightened on the frame. A big bore tack driver.
A Belgian Browning Hi-Power with the ring hammer that had been customized with an Armalloy finish and the installation of high profile sights.
Now I always make sure I’m not selling a gun that I will regret selling later... My wife keeps harping on me to sell most of my guns because I’m turning 70 this year. Not going to happen - yet.
