They are found in other fermented foods too like Kraut, Kefir, Kimchee, and others. Husband says regarding Kimchee, don’t do it. He was in Korea for a year and said don’t even think about it. See below.

Dairy Products. Yogurt is the best-known source of lactic acid bacteria in the United States. ... (Cultured buttermilk is one of the dairy products on the list)

Fermented Vegetables. Many cultures consume fermented vegetables, such as fermented cabbage and other vegetables found in Korean kimchi, sauerkraut and pickled vegetables.

Infant Formulas.

Some manufacturers add live probiotic bacteria cultures, usually bifidobacterium, to infant formula to mimic the gut-protective effects of breast milk.

Other Foods. Some foods, such as sausage and cured meats, wine, vinegar, commercial sauerkraut and sourdough bread, have lactic acid added during the manufacturing process to facilitate fermentation.

re fermented veggies: fermented pickles count?....I’ve got two large jars fermenting at this moment on my counter, with paper bags over them of course.
