I know one China virus protocol includes 10mg per day. When I was overcoming I tried a whole 3mg pill and it wiped me out about 36 hours. My wife tried 3 pills of 9 mg total and that was too much for her. She can handle 3mg though. So we do not include melatonin in our protective / recovery supplements.

I bought some Melatonin from Costco...immediate release and long acting in the same pill....it didn’t do anything for me....
Melatonin is a natural hormone in the brain that decreases with age. Thus, many older people have trouble falling and staying asleep.
Trump had melatonin, 6 mg, because he never slept. His doctor wanted him to sleep to get over covid. Apparently it worked. He was out of the hospital before the week had passed.
I take that much occasionally to sleep. Have a great night’s sleep and zero nightmares. Wake up refreshed and ready to tackle the day.
How big are you? I’m 5’2 and weigh 118. I most assuredly cannot take the same amount of any drug as a larger person. I take many supplements per day and always adjust dosage to my size and weight. 5 mg of melatonin is my max, and usually cut pill in half, which seems to be enough to guarantee a good night’s sleep.
I'm 6'1" and never weigh myself. Maybe 185? I used 3mg nightly for many years, then decided that a little more would help.

Fine to cut a pill, but not a capsule. I have a pill cutter, which makes it very easy.

I read that an effective sleeping dose is .3 mg so I take a little bite of 3 mg pill.
Similarly, I read that .3 is the amount a healthy body produces internally. I take slightly less than .25 mg and it’s effective. Any more than that leaves me groggy - and depressed if it do it for several days in a row.
I am a reluctant to take hormones - there is still so little medicine knows about them.
