She also believed that we were going to experience a “near-extinction event”. She based this on what happens to animal populations that experience logarithmic growth. Which in her opinion is what the world population has been doing.
So everyone was asking her if Ebola could do that; and she said no, it wasn’t easily transmitted and it killed its victims too quickly.
She said that the big killer would be airborne, and would allow you to spread it around for awhile before you got real sick. Probably a flu, which is why she was focusing on the flu threads. A hybrid flu like the 1918 H1N1 which had avian genes.

When Covid was confirmed to be a form of SARS in January 2020 the only thing we had to compare it with was the first SARS in 2003, and to its cousin MERS in 2012.
SARS-1 killed nearly 9% of those who caught it. MERS killed 32%. No one knew whether SARS-2 would be as lethal as those two.
I sent some N95 masks to relatives. One of whom was a nurse during both the SARS1 and MERS thing and that was her specialty. She was very happy to have a “real” mask.

At the beginning of the outbreak covid was scaring the medical types for good reason. It’s only with the benefit of hindsight that we know it isn’t nearly as lethal as its two cousins.
China in January 2020 was welding people inside their apartment buildings. Steve Bannon has close ties to anti regime Chinese who were sending him videos of what was going on in Wuhan. The streets were almost empty. An occasional pedestrian would be seen, staggering and then collapsing. It wasn’t staged, the gov’t wasn’t sharing these videos.
