Singapore has started trialing robots to patrol public areas and deter poor social behaviour in its latest effort to further augment its strong portfolio of surveillance tools.
Ranked one of the safest countries in the world, Singapore has put two autonomous robots on trial to detect bad behaviour such as flouting of COVID-19 safety measures, smoking in prohibited areas and the improper parking of bicycles, Singapore's Home Team Science and Technology Agency said in a statement on Sunday.
It said the two patrol robots, named Xavier, are equipped with cameras that can detect bad social behaviour and trigger real-time alerts to the command and control centre.

I am a Music teacher, and the same thing goes on with music as well. back in the day, one musician could “sit-in” with a bunch of strangers and JAM. Now, it’s all electronic and pre-recorded.
And yet, my students ask for me to teach them “Classic Rock” all the time, and I teach them to “JAM” on their first lesson.
The same can be said of Art, Music, and the Internet.
I’m not a Luddite, and I actually enjoy using technology.
But it makes it a wee bit too easy for evil people to BE evil.

There was an incidence like this a few years ago where Google was classifying pictures of black people as gorillas. After that dust up there is no excuse for not having sufficient data in their training set to distinguish between the two, and even less for not testing for that specific case.
