Missouri gets earthquakes all the time. They just aren’t usually big. We live close to the New Madrid Fault line.
Back in the 1800s one of the largest earthquakes in the history of the USA happened. It reversed the flow of the Mississippi River, and changed the course. Rang the Church bells in New England.
We are overdue for another big one.
When there is one in CA, a few days later we get one along the New Madrid. Lately they have been getting the larger ones in Oklahoma (fracking sites - thought to be path of least resistance) so by the time it gets to MO. it’s not so big.
