70% of adults have been vaccinated in the E.U., according to E.U. officials.

Two people have been arrested in New York City for selling fake vaccine cards. One of them was also offering the service of fraudulently entering the information in the state’s immunization database. She faces 7 years imprisonment if convicted, and another person who was involved faces 5 years, and the 13 people who bought the fake cards also face 7 years if convicted.

“ The reasons for the aberration in Israel’s figures have been listed several times.”

I thought I was paying attention, but apparently have missed these reasons.

Could you please provide a short summary?

you would be wrong. Vaccinated can’t donate because convalescent plasma requires one to have had the disease not the vaccine.

Israel began innoculating earlier and on a larger scale, relatively speaking, than most other places, and therefore now appear to be more subject to the waning in effectiveness, possibly, of the vaccines.

Also, they began with the oldest people, as we did, and these people tended to be wealthier and traveled more. There was probably more social interaction. It is only very recently that we have started seeing breakthroughs, so they had no way of knowing the danger of too-vigorous social interaction among the vaccinated, as we do now.

The delta variant also hit them first, since at first no one knew it was so much more severe. In essence, they are acting as the “shock troops” in this.

And most important, in my estimation, is the fact that they have a high vaccination rate and that will mathematically cause the proportion of breakthrough cases among the vaccinated to increase. The pool of unvaccinated is constantly being reduced, but the vaccinated are always considered vaccinated and so that pool is never reduced, and in fact keeps growing. Thus we have the statistic of more vaccinated getting sick than unvaccinated as time goes by. It’s just a mathematical/statistical result. Presumably, that will happen here as well.

I think there was another reason but I tried to find my two original posts on this and couldn’t find them. Oh yes, they used Pfizer only, and recently some have said Moderna seems stronger against the delta variant. There may be other reasons.

I take the announcement exactly the opposite of you.

Regardless if you’ve had covid and recovered, once you’re vaxxed they will not accept your blood for convalescent plasma purposes.

You would be wrong
copied directly from the red cross site:

The FDA allows people who have received a COVID-19 vaccine to donate dedicated COVID-19 convalescent plasma within six months of their infection of the virus, based on data that antibodies from natural infection can decline after six months however, the Red Cross has discontinued our convalescent plasma collection program.

There are also no limits on donation with the mrna vaccines you have to wait 2 weeks to donate blood after a live attenuated vaccine.

We’ll friend, here is a quote from the Red Cross donation manual…

Here is what the manual says:

“If you receive any type of COVID vaccine, you are not eligible to donate convalescent plasma.”

“One of the Red Cross requirements for plasma from routine blood and platelet donations that test positive for high-levels of antibodies to be used as convalescent plasma is that it must be from a donor that has not received a COVID-19 vaccine. This is to ensure that antibodies collected from donors have sufficient antibodies directly related to their immune response to a COVID-19 infection and not just the vaccine, as antibodies from an infection and antibodies from a vaccine are not the same.”

So…

I don’t know how old the manual is The information. I posted is from their website today feel free to look it up. Either way the issue is not that the vaccine destroys natural immunity as you assert it would be that they wouldn’t know of the antibodies were from the vaccine or the infection. There is enough false information circulating without more if it being spread

I have to admit that I am fascinated by these false rumors. This particular one seems to have been circulating since May, but I can’t find any source beyond memes on Facebook and Twitter.

But I had to check. Here’s what the Red Cross’ web site says about the matter, today:

“The FDA allows people who have received a COVID-19 vaccine to donate dedicated COVID-19 convalescent plasma within six months of their infection of the virus, based on data that antibodies from natural infection can decline after six months however, the Red Cross has discontinued our convalescent plasma collection program.”

https://www.redcrossblood.org/local-homepage/news/article/covid-19-vaccination-guide-blood-donation.html

So, since the Red Cross is not presently accepting convalescent plasma donations from anyone, it’s technically true that they are not accepting donations from vaccinated donors. Perhaps that’s at the root of this particular rumor.

“ it would be that they wouldn’t know of the antibodies were from the vaccine or the infection.”

And the vaxx produces antibodies against a bioengineered spike protein -and not against the complete virus, as natural immunity does.

Who wants the inferior immunity of the spike??

…Better sign up for the six month booster subscription.

“the Red Cross has discontinued our convalescent plasma collection program.”

Convalescent plasma just did not work out as an effective treatment. Other treatments (like Regeneron antibody infusions) proved to be much better.

The disease can progress quickly, and there is no time to risk less effective treatment approaches. Go right for the antibody infusion, as soon as you can, if you get sick with COVID.

“with more and more vaccinations and with over 10K new cases per day (in Georgia) delivering immunity this surge will be the last big one.”

Many modelers predict a smaller last wave, sometime during Cold and Flu Season.

The only likely thing that might be bigger, is a vaccine evasive mutation. There is not much room left for a more transmissible mutation than Delta.

There is also the possibility of waning vaccine protection, but so far, that would seem to just result in a lot of mild cases, with lower rates of hospitalization or death.

I think this is the last big hurrah, for COVID jamming hospitals, unless there is some other big change.

“EARLY treatment is best... seek treatment for “cold” symptoms earlier than you normally would.”

That is an important public service announcement.

Yeah, it seems likely the fall and winter season will see another surge of cases in the more northern states.

“The Vaccines DON’T WORK. You can still get it, still spread it and still die from it so what good is it(?)”

They are not 100% (few things in life are) - so what good it is, is the percentage of protection that it does provide.

That is pretty good, compared to the norm for vaccines in general.

Our surge in Colorado is forecast to peak in the next 2-3 weeks. Hoping for a quiet fall after that. This surge has been nowhere near as severe as previous ones and we have a high vaccination rate. Holding this is the last surge

That’s welcome news. I suspect we’ll get a good test of how long vaccine efficacy against hospitalizations holds up in the states that are just beginning their delta wave such as New England.
