True. And it’s easy enough to do if you have the water and the wood to spare. So if you live in a sparsely populated rural area, I guess you’d be okay.

But if you live in the suburbs or (gasp!) in a city, I still think plain old canned food is your better bet.

I will concede that my way would require more storage space. So there’s that.

You are correct. How / where you live dictates how and what to prep. In a world where people run out of food/ clean water the prepared will stand out. Do not stand out in a SHTF. You have 7-14 days before you stand out or get out. If not then your dead.

People are evil when hungry. Especially the pampered, never missed a meal types. The will kill you even if they die in the process.

Bugging out to the unknown = dead
Bugging in in the city / high density suburbs = dead for most

There is no easy answers or magic gear.

A one burner stove and a propane tank. Some large metal thermoses.

You heat up the water in the morning and use it to cook in the thermos.

You have hot food, drink and washing water all day.
