a recently discovered object is suggesting that we're far from knowing everything. Darn. I thought we did.

...we're far from knowing everything. You think?
I've seen estimates for how many galaxies there are which range from 100 billion to 2 trillion. Two trillion is 20 times as many as 100 billion. That's quite a range.

"If The Accident was around before these elements (including carbon) were more common through the Universe, then its light would be stronger in specific wavelengths that would normally be absorbed by methane" This would also mean there are no cows there.

Oddly, it's zooming around the galaxy very fast, at speeds of around 207.4 kilometers (128.9 miles) per second. I did the math. Were it coming directly toward us, it would be here in roughly 78,125+ years. Say in early A.D. 80,147.
Not that far off in cosmic terms. Of course, it's not coming toward us. But if it did, it might mean the end of the world.

An unknown percentage of stars have planets, so there must be trillions or quadrillions of planets in the universe.
Whether there is life on any other planet is still undetermined. If life arises whenever conditions are right, there could be many planets with life, but in most cases it may be very primitive life. It took billions of years between the first appearance of life on earth and the first multi-cellular life. The only thing that seems reasonably certain is that no other planet has chocolate.
