The problem I see that might get Newsom back in (along with cheating), is there are too many Republicans running. So this is going to split the votes.

No, the decision on Newsom is either Yes to recall, or No to keep him. If it is "No", the second vote doesn't count - it is a moot point because Newsom remains.
If it is "Yes", then Newsom is not on the ballot of the second part, and Larry Elder is way ahead of all other R's and the few Dims on the ballot.
