OK, need some review here, I think there’s a math error in there somewhere....
1) the maintenance dose is 0.2 to 0.3 mg/kg, and if unwell its 0.4 to 0.5 mg/kg.
2) convert pounds to kg: lbs divided by 2.2 is kg
3) get mg per dose: multiply dose mg/kg from step 1 by kg found in step 2
4) 6.08 g tube is 6080 mg
5) 1.87% is 0.0187 and tube has 0.0187 x 6080 mg of iver in it, which is 113.7mg per tube.
6) 113.7 divided by mg per dose in step 3 gives doses per tube, for weight in step 2.
For 200 pounds, it would work out to 4.2 doses per tube.
BUT, the paste is 1.87%, not 100%, so I wonder where the math error is.
I think it is in step 5, don’t take 1.87% of the 6080mg.
maybe 113.7mg of 1.87% paste in a tube works out to way less than 4.2 doses per tube for the example of 200 pounds.
If you had 6080 mg of 1.87% paste, and wanted to know how many mg needed for 100%, wouldn’t you take 100% and divide it by 1.87% and get a factor of 53.5 to use in one of the equations?

Dr Lee Merritt explains how she would go about calculating horse Ivermectin for human use.
The “standard” dose is 0.2 mg/kg. With 113.7 mg in the tube, that enough for a single dose for a 568.5 kg animal, which is 1250.7 pounds, as advertised on the tube.
The number of doses in a tube varies according to your weight and whether it is for prevention, or treatment and whether you need extra for the treatment.
The 6.08g tube is for 1250 lb horse. There is 25 notches (50lb per notch).
113.7 mg per tube divided by 25 notches = 4.548 mg/notch
In my calculations, I simply used 4.5mg for simplicity.
The calculation to get 113.7 mg is correct (rounded also)
6080 x 1.87% = 113.696
So in the tube of paste, less than 2% is Ivermectin. The rest of the 98+% is filler. Understand?
Yo it’s really hard to OD on Ibermectin. I like the 1% cattle/swine injectable solution. Fun story, today I got some from a Rural King store. Bought it online via credit card. Anyway, long story, but the chic working there tried to accuse me of not needing it for my animals. I won. We both lamented the stupidity of people depriving animals of ivermectin. It’s getting ugly out here.
