Yep, I’ve wondered, who the heck decided the Kennedy family is like an American royal family?
Regardless of politics, we can all feel sympathy about the assassinations of JFK and RFK.
But sometimes, some have said the Kennedy family is cursed, and mention events such as Chappaquiddick and the William Kennedy Smith rape case as Kennedy curses. I think that’s absurd, because Chappaquiddick and the William Kennedy Smith rape case were self inflicted scars on the Kennedy family.
I think the idolization started with the great sympathy the family received after the assassination of President Kennedy, and just grew from there.

Yep, I’ve wondered, who the heck decided the Kennedy family is like an American royal family? The Mediacracy. Especially the Washington Post and the New York Times.

The Kennedy family was an organized crime family.
Joe was the master at public relations.
He created the Kennedy myth.
The guy was amazing—supported the other side during WWII and kept his PR image unscathed.
That is raw genius.

The idolization started well before. It was based on the image of youth, ease of manner (he was a charming SOB), and his wife's sophistication when compared with a stolid midwestern Eisenhower's, and smart but always brooding Nixon. That the musical Camelot opened during the 1960 campaign and ran on Broadway through his administration gave the fawning press a convenient title and pretty myth.

I think you could be right. It’s another example of Martyr Syndrome, to me. Perhaps the best example.
Oh how sad! He was killed! During office!
Notice how any dead person never has ill spoken of them. And go from there.
