Yes, in a nutshell, that is it. I have followed flu and other disease tracker forums for years (ever since Bush scared us with bird flu) and I remember there were several virologists there that warned about vaccinating in the middle of an outbreak, such as H1N1, for this very reason. Some were even warning that vaccines for flu A and B at that time would disarm people up for a more severe case of H1N1.
At the beginning of covid, I wondered if the high rates of healthcare workers, elderly and nursing homes were cases of ADE because those groups had high rates of flu shots. Of course there’s no way to know, because viral loads also could explain it. So, who knows.
I believe the right course is therapeutics which are showing real efficacy worldwide, but largely ignored here. There’s no money to be made in them.
